Marius : I saw your notes about compiling v1.2.2 for etch; do you know the performance of this version and stability ? since it involves updating libevent it would seem like a non-trivial upgrade. Comments?
Prasana: if you check out the memcache home site, you will see they are advertising big performance improvements for the new version. Also on the libevent site the same.
Personally I am running it exactly as documented in my blog, and it runs fine. I haven't noticed any huge improvements though. Still the load generated by memcached previously was negligible, so it is hard to see any significant improvement ;-). Don't get me wrong there are 2 dedicated memcached servers, but the cpu load on the memcached process was never higher than 15-20%.
ps. the upgrade is not so complex, and this is why i showed how to rebuild the deb packages to make the installation easy on several memcached servers.
